I was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 25, 1960. My wife's name is Wendy. Wendy and I had our first child on March 21 of 2008. His name is 'Will.' Wendy has a PhD in Nutrition and prior to our getting married, was a professor at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
After 10 years of private practice as an employee within a large group, I decided it was time to develop my own practice with people whose philosophy of care was similar to my own. It has been almost a year now since going out on my own, and I am wishing I had done it sooner! I am happy to be working with people who truly care about their job and the patients who come to our clinic.
I have delivered over 2000 children and I have extensive training in both low and high risk obstetrics, with a Cesarean section rate lower than the national average, thanks to a rigorous training at Charity Hospital, in New Orleans. I also perform surgery for uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis and pelvic pain, and infertility. I offer in office Essure tubal obstruction procedures for women who have completed their families. I also offer endometrial ablation for women with heavy bleeding.
Although I love the general practice of Ob/Gyn, I have recently begun work on helping women with PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS is not a disease but rather a condition of a constellation of problems, including weight gain, excess hair growth, insulin resistance or early diabetes, elevated triglycerides and cholesterol, as well as menstrual irregularities and infertility.
I have been board certified since 2000 and I am a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I am on the active staff of Baptist Women's and Methodist Germantown hospitals.
